My Nitto 555's just don't hook near how I want them too.

I have been doing a little research on finding a drag radial that would be
o.k. to leave on for everyday driving as well. (At least during the warm seasons). The main one I have seen so far is the Nitto NT555R.

These fuggers are pretty damn expensive though but I can save up my money for them and have it by spring.
I drive about 15mi. everyday in Abilene and I don't see having a drag radial
on the back tires as a big deal. Just as long as the weather does'nt suck.

But I don't want one that is for track only.

Tips, suggestions would be appreciated.
Also if anyone has opinions on the 555R's I'd like to hear them!

Thanks

I'm rode in a car wih the 555Rs on it and it had no wheel spin. I'm getting a pair next summer because Abilene roads suck more the longer we go without rain.
just don't run them in cold weather, Nitto says it could cause them to crack and fail. Corey's car looks like it has a pair, might want to ask him.

Yeah I was planning on just putting them on during spring, summer, fall and putting them up for winter.

They are pretty steep though.
Cheapest I saw were like 280 a piece.

I've heard the new Nitto NT05R's are pretty good. If you are trying to get something that is going to hook up on the streets, well, good luck finding anything that will hook up well on Abilene streets.

If you want drag radials that are good for every day use, get the Nitto 555R. I've had them on two cars (the Mach and the Cobra) and I'd never hesitate to drive in rain. Snow is gonna blow in a Mustang regardless of the tire, so I didn't much care about that. The Nitto drags are the cheapest, but best wearing drag radial you'll come across. And they're also not expensive compared to the Mickey Thompson and BFG drag radials. They only get expensive if you have 18" wheels. For a 17" wheel the 315/35/17 Nitto drags are $191ea. For the 305/40/18 they're $279ea on americanmuscle.com.

It must've been close to stock. I had no problem lighting up the Nitto drags in the Mach, but I also put about 10,000 miles on them in the 14 months I had them on the car before I sold the car and they still had about 40% tread left.

Hrm right now I have 18x10's with 42mm offset all the way around on Nitoo 555
275/40/18's all the way around.

I wonder if 305/40/18 would work on those wheels for the back tires.

I have the 305/40R18 555R's on the back of the Bullitt right now.
I think Corey has the NT05's.

I just don't know how the 305's would fit on my wheels.

For reference, here's a pic of the Bullitt with them... wheels are 18"x10".

They will fit just fine. Stick out from the fender maybe 1/2".

You would need a 10" wide back wheel for that to fit. You're gonna end up spending a shit load of money on tires no matter what because you've got 18s.

305's will fit on a 10" wheel. I have NT05R's on my car since April and I love them. Have lots of tread left too. You just gotta be carefull in the rain.

These tires hook though! I could launch on the street at 5K and have minimal spin. They stick so much that my stock clutch slips a little LOL. And I think they are a few more dollars than the 555r's, so it's worth it.
