View Full Version : My interior ideas (I know my skills suck)

Was thinking about getting my silver plastic interior painted.
Not the chrome accents but the parts that cover the odometer area, around the vents, and also covering the air bags.
Was thinking about doing a gloss black, flat black, or possiblly even throwing around the idea of red.
Is there anyone in town that could pull this off and make it look good?

Edit... I decided to think about having the pieces painted instead of buying a kit.
Take a look at the post below.

Or gloss black:

I know my skills suck but do you guys think either would look good and which one do you think would look better?

Jessy Horton, who owns one of those super expensive, high-end, S/C 427ci 'Marros, had his interior pieces done in what some call "Real Fire" or "True Flames", I called him & got the name & phone # of the painter who did his interior pieces. He said he paid about $300 but supplied the paint (believe me that is DIRT CHEAP for the Real Fire paint job Jessy got)! If he'll do it, Jessy said he was "booked" 'til January from referals Jessy sent, a single color may be cheaper! Jessy said be sure to tell the painter, Jessy with the Camaro, referred you. You have my number or can pm me and I'll give you the painter's name & local phone number.

EXELLENT!
I wonder which would look better... a flat black or a gloss black.
I don't want the gloss to look TOO bling.
Do you think you could PM this guy's phone number to me?
January is fine... that would give me some save up time.
I am going to buy some engine dress up within the next couple of days so
that is enough out of my wallet for the time being.
My transfer from go mods to show mods is happeing really fast.
Alot faster than anticipated.
I am getting quite a few custom painted under hood parts and I am really exited about it.
Only thing that sucks is I can bend or twist with my back so I am going to have to pay to have someone put the parts on for me.
Doc has real strict orders on what I can and cannot do with the back.
I also went by Dallas Mustang while I was in Dallas for my doc app. and picked up a billet cup holder bezel and a shifter outline bezel... and a cool T-shirt. while I was there. It is actually kinda Harley Davidson looking and is a Mustang Anual Burnout even T-Shirt from Dearborn that they hold.
Pretty cool shirt that has a logo on the front and skull artwork on the back.
Ricardo is going to help me finish off putting Dmat under the console area to whack out the leftover rattle from the shifter today and I will install the satin
bezel and shifter outline after we get done.
Oh on a second note I saw someone that used vynil carbon looking stuff and glued it in his interior. It looked like dry carbon and I like the non shiney look but it seems you could stretch it and make the pattern look bad if you didn't do it perfect.... Heres a pic

How do you think this looks? The vinyl stuff is only like 30 bucks.
You use high temp glue to adhere it. I bet an apholstery shop could do this for relatively cheap if I was scared of messing it up.
So... would you guys do this or get it painted if you had the choice?

I like the carbon idea myself. For me personally, interiors are one of those things I think look better left alone, the factory generally does a fair job of getting it right. As an added un-bonus, gloss paint on an interior (to me) just looks tacky, like fake wood trim. If it were me, I'd try to find whatever the stock IUP had, or if you're feeling super froggy, jump on that Roush carbon fiber kit.
But that's just my opinion.

That carbon fiber look is almost what my dash looks like. It' be cheap to find a wrecked GT with the premium package. If you can find one, you can also pull the Mycolor gauges. I think it's 200 or so colors to pick from. I have mine at a deep blue.

200 colors? WTF?
Mine has like 8 colors or something.
I like the look of the vinyl carbon looking stuff I posted.
It is not as shiney as real carbon fiber and I like that.
I am just worried that if it was stretched too much the pattern might look stretched and not put on right.
You have to sand the parts and then use a high heat glue on it.
I talked to someone that did it himself and he said it took him 5 hrs to get it all done.
I think I'd rather pay someone to do it... like an upolstry shop or something.
If I did the paint I think I'd do the flat black.
I'd like to find a wrecked car to get the parts off of too.
I think I'll call some yards tomorrow and see what they can do.
Then I think I'll call some upolstry shops too and ask if any would be willing
to do this and how much they would charge.

I'm partial to the Carbon-Fiber look as that is what all the Roush Models (like my 05) have. Mine looks like the Dark Carbon-Fiber so it isn't "flashy", but they make Carbon-Fiber in many different colors. Chance Woodley is the painter, if you decide to go that way, at 668-2764. Just tell him that Jessy (the Camaro he did the "Real Fire" interior on) referred you. You might even see if he would put the Carbon-Fiber stuff on if you think it will be cheaper to buy it than to find a wrecked 'Stang with it, or maybe he will know of someone who will install the Carbon-Fiber looking tape.

Nice... they come pre cut!
30 bucks could be worth sticking one of those fuckers on to see how they actually
look. I wonder though if they would actually stay on under high heat given the other vinyl ones say you must use a high heat glue for them.
