According to this article these babies
are going to be harder to get than the GT500's were at first.
Seems they will be ALOT harder to get.

Oh and check this company out that is turning S197's into classic replicas.
The price is um "cough" .. up there!

I don't think it's going to be that hard at all. This article is witten oblivious to the notion that there will be a 2013 BOSS as well, with more color options, and higher production numbers. Ford is doing a dang good job of mimmicking the 1969/70 BOSS production in these respects.

Well they did say the new GT500 was going to be rare when she first came out and now look.
In my opinion I think we will see something similar to what happened then.
At first they will be hard to get but after the initial storm subsides they won't be.
What did you think about those S197's on that site they transformed hehe?

I loved the look of the 69 Boss 302 Retro-Kit! I wondered if they had a kit to fit my 05 Roush 'Vert with a hood that would clear the ProCharger-D on my Livernois Stroker so I eMailed 'em; nothing ventured nothing gained!

That would be so neat to see something like that in person and ride in it.
The performance of today and the looks of yesterday.
Just a neat idea for those with the money.
I know you can get this and that for that price like a z06 and such.
I'm not arguing it's money to performance value.
But it is a neat idea.
There is an actor... dangit can't remember his name...
had a 65 fastback body put on a S197 chasis and had a termi engine in it and all sorts of stuff. Read an article about it and man it sounded neat as far as performance and handling. It was AWESOME.

Can't see that link from work, I'll check it out when I get back to my room.
But yeah, I think the dealers will be able to make some coin off a few early suckers, but I think deals will stil be able to be made. Case in point, they've already said the 2011 GT500 would be limited to 3k+ units, and given it's new aluminum 5.4 and other improvements, it would prove to be more collectible than previous G500's. I know where there's a brand new, never titled 2011 GT500 with the SVT Performance Pack, 30 miles on it, being sold as "used" because of a factory paint blemish (discovered by Ford - buffed out completely by the dealer who bought the car at auction), $55k sticker, going for <$48k.

So... going back to this thread, it seems I've made a small splash in the BOSS world by being able to scoop one up off the showroom floor. There's about 30 owners on one other forum I'm on, and a bunch more folks that have ordered and are still waiting on their cars to be delivered. They're a bit bent that I was able to just walk in and buy one. Especially at sticker. :D Thank you Brad and Dennis at Arrow Ford!!! :D

Wouldn't surprise me ifthe boss is the new mach1 in that it is only a two year run and a "Limited production" kind of thing. Maybe not as numerous but nobody knows what kind of production numbers were looking at yet.

Yes we do. 3500 per year for '12/'13, with 50 Laguna Secas per year. It's not like the Shelby's where they keep making them because people keep buying them. Hopefully it doesn't turn out like the '08 Bullitt and they produce more than there is demand for pre-production announcement was a run of 7700) and you end up with another '09 Bullitt on your hands.

That's the only thing that worries me.
At first the Shelby was supposed to be limited then they opended it up alot more compared to what it was.
It's my unhappy guess that as the BOSS becomes more popular this could happen with it as well.

It's my unhappy guess that as the BOSS becomes more popular this could happen with it as well.Well here's the thing, there's a difference between special edition and limited edition. The Bullitt's, Mach1's (possibly??) and BOSS's are limited edition Mustangs; their production numbers were set before production even began. The 2011 GT500 will be the same way, with a limited run of 3,500 IIRC. That's in contrast to the 07-10 GT500's which were supplied to meet the demand. Same with Terminators, etc etc. There are more S197 Shelby's in production than the Terminators for sure, even on a per year basis. The GT500 is a special edition Mustang, but it's production numbers are far from limited, and aside from the run of '11's, Ford never limited the production on them.

From what I see on the forums thus far, BOSS owners are pretty snobby...A LOT like the Mach1 owners were a few years ago.
