Two worlds are about to collide as American builder Roush announced it will partner with Carroll Shelby for the creation of a truly unique Mustang. Inspired by the Lockheed Martin' SR-71 Blackbird long-range reconnaissance airplane, the 2011 SR-71 Mustang will be auctioned on Thursday, July 29 at the Experimental Aircraft Association's (EAA) Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

The car to be created by the two famous builders will feature traits unique to the two companies. Even the SR in the name represents the two builders (S for Shelby, R for Roush). The full details of the special Mustang are listed below.

all-new aluminum block 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8 engine with a 2.3-liter Whipple Twin Screw Supercharger with Ford Racing calibration and Roush intake
Ford Racing Handling Pack
Ford Racing tuned exhaust and tips
SVT Track Pack wheels in custom paint (19-inch in front, 20-inch in rear)
glass roof with unique graphic treatment
unique non-production matte and silver exterior paint treatment with SR-71 cues
custom Recaro race seats featuring embroidered signatures of Jack Roush and Carroll Shelby
custom racing steering wheel
rear seat removed to accentuate cockpit environment
Ford Racing performance gauge cluster

custom IP badging, sill plates and floor mats

“With Carroll Shelby’s history as an USAF flight instructor and Jack Roush as a well known P-51 Mustang pilot, the objective was to hand build a highly valued vehicle that would excite both enthusiasts and collectors alike,” Roush says in a statement.

As said, the car will be auctioned at the EAA Museum in Oshkosh. EAA has been over the years the recipient of Ford's unique auction vehicles, with the money raised by such events in the last 15 years being donated to a cause or another.

More (better) pics...
They made some changes to the graphics package, and removed the nose cones from the foglight openings.. Making that THE front end of the BOSS 302R. I think you take this car, slap a unique set of wheels and unique spoiler on it, and you have your BOSS 302.
