Gauging interest & gathering ideas.
Who would be interested in AbileneMustangs t-shirts?
How many would you purchase if they were available?
Would you be more likely to buy a shirt if it was simple and only had the site name?
Would you be more likely to buy a shirt if it had an image of some sort?
I have toyed around with making a design using a "toon" image of a couple members' Mustangs. Maybe one of each generation represented here?
Open to any/all ideas. Just keep in mind, using Ford copyrighted logos (running pony, etc) is a touchy subject that I'd like to avoid if possible.
Thanks for your input!

It sounds like a good idea. Maybe Abilenemustangs on the back with small logo on the front breast in small letters.
Have you looked at getting a cafepress webpage?

Have you looked at getting a cafepress webpage?Yeah I like something like that for a simple, to the point, design.
I will never do anything for this site through CafePress... :nono:
Long story short, I created a 2008 Calendar for another club, we sent it off to CafePress, and 4 days later received word that Ford had issued a cease and desist order, prohibiting us from selling the calendar. Turns out CafePress had been in hot water with Ford before for using copyrighted logos, etc (which is why I mentioned staying away from logos in my original post).
But we have other options available to us for getting the shirts made. :t)

Perhaps you can get "Stylized" pictures of various year Mustangs to superimpose on the back, a "colage" (sp?) of 'Stangs? I've got a T-Shirt with a Wimbledon White 66 'Vert with front end lifted up and two fours punching through the hood (driver's side quartering-front view). It looks a LOT like my own 66 Vert (immagine that) and I'm sure others have similar shirts or pictures (these were very popular back in the day) that they could take upload on here to send to you if you'd like to see if it would be possible to put a bunch on the back of a shirt. I'm out of town right now so don't have a way to do so since that shirt is back home, but if you're interested I'd do so in a couple of weeks when I get home.

That'll work. I am at a work stoppage on this while I'm here in Iraq. I'm not willing to pay the buttloads of money for internet in my room, and without it, can't upload anything if I did come up with a design. I can, however, continue to sketch ideas if they come up. Thanks for your help!

Bumping this. I am in contact with the Monogrammers folks, talking out the details on designing, ordering, etc. At the very minimum, I want to do a t-shirt plus a business card option or two. We can talk about other items once we get a design nailed down.
What I'm looking for from you guys is ideas on logos/designs, whether you want something basic like just text with the site/club name, or if we should look at something more exciting/trendy. I don't have a LOT of free time, but I do have enough to tinker around with ideas, maybe enough to have something locked in by the time I get back.
Examples are worth brownie points here. If you have an idea, get a pen and a napkin and sketch it out. If you have a link/pic of some other shirt design you'd like us to mimic, post up a pic/link.
As an example of what I'm talking about... This is where I'm currently looking for my "inspiration" in coming up with designs.

Also, I've been told the Monogrammers is going to be able to offer the race style shirts from Tri-Mountain - http://tmracewear.com/products_menu.php I personally could see myself wearing more than one of these styles... :D (This one (http://tmracewear.com/images/pic_circuit2.png) matches the forums almost perfectly)
Anyways, let me know what you think.

We won't ever have meetings, or club dues, or anything like that. The forums are for the discussions. But yeah, the idea is to provide you guys with a shirt design that you'd be proud enough of to wear in public, and at car shows or whatever.

I think a small logo on the front breast and maybe each member have their car on the back?

That would be cool.
A small logo on the breast... left, right , or even center would look sweet.
Their car on the back is an awesome idea!
Maybe their username or member number below the pic of their car.
(I think member number would actually be a little more proffesional looking)
You could have their username like on the sleeve of the shirt.
AWESOME idea Ricardo

Well here's the options we currently have.
We can do a silk screen shirt that will give us (IMO) a nice, high quality image on the shirts. To do this, we pretty much need to stick to one design to avoid set-up costs for multiple designs, and we'll have to order a minimum # of shirts (probably looking at 12, and that's per color). The other option is a transfer image (which to me sounds like "iron-on", but I've been assured that the folks can get good results from these), and this would allow for the custom member-specific designs. But again, someone has to design the images, unless you're wanting a photo-realistic shot of your car on your shirt.
Me personally, I like the graphics/toon style renderings, and I think we'll have better results with the silk screening process.
Also, the Monogrammers can print on all areas of the shirts, so we won't be limited to a certain sized area of the shirt, etc. These will run a little higher in price, but I think they'd be worth it. I don't want to get all crazy with designs like a Tap-Out/UFC type design, but we could potentially have the same printable areas available. Something to think about. (Which is why I said to take a look at the shirts in those links and let me know if you see anything that we could ..."adapt"... for our uses.)

I think just the abilenemustangs.net logo would look cool on the breast or center of the shirt like the stickers you have.
I really think that each member's car would be cool and give everyone a sense of their own identity in the club, even IF the print is not the BEST.
I've seen their work before and I'm sure it would look pretty good regardless.
Their iron on types really do look better than what you think.
I have seen them done for fundraiser Tshirts events in town, etc. and they don't look
cheapo.
Im not saying one print on the back would be bad... I'm just saying I like the idea
of everyone having a chance to have their car on the back is a really neat idea.
I vote for that as the best idea but I think the one high quality image would look good as well.
