I'll be leaving this weekend for a 6 mo deployment to Iraq, and while I expect to maintain a presence on the site and be here for any admin needs you all may have, I can't guarantee what kind of access I'll have as far as the site possibly being blocked or just crummy bandwidth. (Hoping for decent wifi at work, but we'll see.)

In my absence, and to add a level of redundancy, I'm adding Corey (Mustangfreak) to the Administrators role and giving him the ability to handle most if not all issues that might pop up while I'm away. In the event you have an issue that needs remedying, please first post in the Feedback & Suggestions forum asking for assistance. If you don't receive a reply in a suitable amount of time, you can try contacting Corey or myself via the PM or email options listed in our user profiles.

Wish I could be here for the summer to see some get togethers and events, but this deployment will be good for me for a number of reasons, not the least of which is getting the Bullitt back up and running once and for all. :t) I expect to check back in here and see you guys getting together and having fun! So do it up big, get the AbileneMustangs name out there!! :headbang2:

If you have any questions or issues, feel free to post up and ask. I want to make sure everything is squared away before I head out.

Thanks,
Rich

Be safe man.
Let us know about a week before you get back and maybe we could get everyone together for a BBQ or something.

Checking in... Baghdad is ok. The trip was a bitch and a half, but that part is over. Been busting tail to learn the job here, LOTS to learn, but luckily had a great pair of guys working here prior to us that are getting us all squared away. Definitely already looking forward to getting back though. Temp's not that bad, I think today was only 106. Should be back up to 115-120 this weekend and into next week.

Anyways, gotta go. I'll check in when I can.

Glad you made it there. Did you fly in to Baghdad on a 130 or a 17?

C-130. It was my first flight on a military a/c since enlisting... those cargo nets are for the birds. Luckily the guy next to me broke out his netbook and watched Monsters vs Aliens, otherwise the trip would have sucked supremely. Flying in full battle rattle also sucks, just FYI.

LOL. By cargo nets you mean the red nets that are the seat backs? Now you know what I had to deal with for hours upon hours upon hours when I was flying for the past two years. ;)

lol, yeah those 'seats'... :skull:
Yeah our flight was about 2.5hrs from the deid into Baghdad, I can't imagine being on that thing for a minute longer. My ass was cryin in pain, especially when we were sitting there in our battle rattle. (BTW, the new IBA vests are wicked cool.) Now, if you were like the TSgt on that particular a/c, and can just pull out a rack of seats all for yourself and lay down and crash out for a bit, that might be a little better... Oh and that was the first time I'd seen the 'lavatory' on a 130...

I used to do that shit with the seats all the time. If we were flying Space-A people or whatever I'd bust out another row of seats so I could lay down. lol. That's pretty typical of an FCC to do. Yeah, and the "lav" on a 130 consists of pretty much a urinal on each side then the honey bucket on the left side (aircraft left). The newer 130s though, like from the early 90s on up, have an actual lav.

The J's are nice. You should see the "lav" on a B-1 Rich...you'd laugh.
