I'm going to make a San Angelo trip on Friday July 16, 'cuz it's their monthly 1/4 mile night. Anyone who's free around 4 PM that day that wants to go, post up and we can determine a meetup spot/time to head down there. I'm thinking 1600 would be a good time to get moving, just to make sure we all have time to get down there before the gates open. That'll give us time to settle into a pit area and plenty of tech time before the staging lanes open :headbang2:

I'll go. But I'm a complete track noob. That means to drive through the water and burn out on street radials, right?

Better safe than sorry. Rings and bearings need time to seat properly. The better the break in, the longer the motor will last. Some call it bullshit, but I'd rather be safe.

Matt and I had that discussion once, and he linked me to this article. I thought you were supposed to take it easy the first 500 miles or so until I read this and started asking around.

I'll be running the Bullitt hard for the first little bit after it's built...

i was always taught like that article, run it the way your going to drive it from the get go....my dad taught me that a long time ago and he was one of the head techs at a ford dealer for years, and never had any problems from any motor he ever built including all sorts of hot rods

Most motors in cars anymore are run before they're put in the cars on the line to "break in the motor" for you, but I dunno. I always break in the motor like I'm going to drive it, but don't go crazy.

Any ideas yet on where we're going to meet up?

I'll have an address for the meet spot by tomorrow night. But I'll be driving a green Hyundai Accent, as my Cobra is down for the foreseeable future :censored:

It does sound like a great idea.

I'm pumped to see what my car does.

I'll be at the Hobby Lobby shopping center parking lot at 3:45 that afternoon to wait on anybody who's going. Leaving at around 4 P.M.

C'mon people, let's get a group going!

Shameless bump. Don't be skeeered to run it beyond the great big Abilene 1/8th!
Edit: One more bump just in case anyone wants to do more than the 1/8th bench racing...
