Drag strip is considering a "midnight madness" idea - they are getting the brackets done around 8~9pm. Would people be more interested in running T-N-T, grudge etc from about 9 till midnight Saturday vs Sunday afternoon? Sundays are not well attended lately and the last on the schedule is end of April. Word-in-the-pits is that the street cars prefer the night. If there is interest in Saturday night they may try it. AFAIK Would be same gate price as now, $15. You could get in before the end of the brackets but would have to hang out until allowed in the lanes. The money brackets are typically the last to finish up and they'll not want to chance hurting the starting line until that's done. *Hook is good at night with the VHT - excellent in the day, even in the heat also, then when the track cools it hooks like gangbusters.
* personal opinion, not based on scientific evidence or anything you could borrow money with.

I think that would be a great idea to run a 9P-Mid!

Sorry I am late to the party. Midnight drags are a great idea. Fri or Sat night. They had it in Utah on Fri. and the limit was 300 cars and every time they had to turn people away.

You can add two of our weekends and not come up with 300 cars. The last Sunday the track was open, there were 45 people. That's not half enough to be open even during the day.
The option is still being considered, but it's still just a thought. There are just not a lot of cars/people interested in racing in Abilene right now. I'm told even the circle track car count is down almost 50%.
We do appreciate those that come to the Friday T-n-Ts. Fridays have been slack too, so you should get plenty of run time.

I was out there last Friday. Yeah, plenty of run time and semi-empty staging lanes, but I think that was partially because there was a points race the next day and everyone was tinkering between runs. Personally, I made 7 passes, and there was room to make a bunch more. I just didn't wanna hot-lap a s/c car :D
