My car has been hard to start the past few weeks. It usually happens after sitting a couple of hours or more. It will turn for about 5-10 seconds then finally fire. I was thinking that I may need to clean my MAF sensor. What might it be?

Try cleaning or replacing the IAC first, that's what fixed it when mine was doing the same thing

I cleaned the MAF and that wasnt the prob. Is it ok to clean the IAC with MAF cleaner?

You might wan't to try cleaning the motor with a fuel flush.. I was having trouble starting my old Chev.1500 ran a fuel cleaning system through it and the problem ceased after that. Did it to Supra as well "purrs" like a kitten at idle.

What I mean was doing a full induction cleaning through your vac. lines / Throttle Body / Fuel tank.

I think he meant a fuel system cleaner...like one that you dump in your gas tank so it gets passed through your fuel system and gets all of your plumbing and injectors, etc. Sea foam is an air induction cleaner I believe.

Yea, I just ran Lucas Fuel injector cleaner. My throttle body looked dirty as shit when I cleaned the IAC. When I get with Matt and get this PI swap done I am going to clean that bish real good.
Speaking of the PI swap. I've already cleaned the PI intake off really good. How do I get the heads cleaned off real good before I put them on. I cleaned them somewhat with B-12 chemtool but I couldnt really get into the tight spots.

You'll need tools...

SOunds like a weak fuel pump.
After it sits for a while, the fuel lines will take a bit to fill back up with fuel...as they have emptied back into the tank.
Try this next time it has sat for a while.
turn the key on, but do not start it, let the fuel pump prime. Then turn it off and do that again. Do this about 3-4 times. Then on the 4th or 5th time, fire it up. If it starts right away...then its probably a weak fuel pump going out, or it could be your filter clogged up.
Word.

forshizzle. After I cleaned the IAC it did it a few more times, but it hasnt done it the past 15-20 starts. Maybe its cleared up.
Matt, you got room for all those parts? If so, I'll just bring everything over. Its only two 2x3x3 boxes plus the intake. I'll text you though.

Matt has all kinds of room now that the cars are starting to disappear from his driveway/garage/street in front of his house and his neighbors' houses.

He came flyin up behind me when I was cruising in 6th and I never downshifted and stayed right next to him. When I let off, he kept going, but he slowed down till I caught him. Then I put it in 3rd and punched it...he was long behind me then.

Does anyone have a fuel pressure tester? It is still hard starting and I think my fuel pressure falls off after I turn it off. Fuel rail pressure sensor bad? or Fuel pump?
Even if I prime it 2 or 3 times it still doesnt start right up. It will start, but not a quick strong start up like it was starting.

That may be a compression issue if it's not fuel related.

That is possible too, but I hope thats not it.
