What a friggin' waste. The Cash 4 Clunkers program was stupid. How many billions of dollars did our gov't send off to bail out American automakers, only to turn around and start giving out checks that would likely be spent somewhere other than a Big 3 sales lot... :headshake:
Poor Mustang. Hopefully, if I read the C4C legislation correctly, only the actual drivetrain has to be destroyed. The dealer might be able to sell this thing as a roller. That'd make a friggin sweet project car!

would he actually get 4500$ for it, and would he actually be able to sell it that day like he did?

Just proof that our gov't is wasting money. Why should the gov't give you $3,500-4,500 for a car that blue books for around $2,300? They should have gone by NADA/Blue Book value, not to exceed $4,500, and forced the checks to be used at a Big 3 dealership.

man that video guy, complete idiot!!!! its a 2000 maybe a 99 mustang, side note, nice car, but was some old fucker that didnt appreciate a stang for what it can be. He/she owned it and drove it is all.
Also the motor is given a sand/silica mixture to sieze it up and then the car will be crushed. All you can do is have a friend that works at the dealer hook ya up with some stuff!

From the C4C legislation:
The dealer must agree to transfer the trade-in vehicle to a disposal facility that will crush
or shred it so that it will never be returned to the road, although parts of the vehicle, other
than the engine block and drive train (unless the drive train is sold in separate parts), may
be sold.

why does that not sound right..
i hate lawereise
ok so you can part the car out like fenders, mirrors, glass etc,
BUT you can sell the engine/trans as long as its in separate parts? i.e. engine and trans or engine parts and trans parts?
