Cobra is back from HPP

I just got the cobra back from HPP.

They built a custom Chrome-moly 6 point cage, custom double pass heat exchanger with two 9 inch fans, and tuned it up for me.

It made 550 rwhp 500 rwtq

I wish our track wasnt closed, but as soon as I can, Im gonna get it to Kennedale.

That's a matter of opinion. Some people like HPP. Some like gearheads. Some like Fastlane. I like HPP. They hook me up with everything I need , manny is the best mustang tuner in Texas in my opinion. Chris is the best lsx tuner in Texas in my opinion. But that's me. You have your opinion, I have mine. And my buddy Wes is the best mod motor guy in Abilene in my opinion. He has proved himself time and time again. But like I said, that's my opinion.

Wes Is the guy from arrow ford. Wes and I built a 500 rwhp f150 with a lightning motor swap and a stock blower at 14 psi. He has worked on many many mustangs around town.

Thanks Bro., as for the f-150, well yeah. Can't wait to get the bigger squirters, elbow and take it back to the dyno again. And hopefully Lord willing I will be able to get the blower on the car and tuned by atleast Sept.-ish. And Yea "I may know a thing or two about a thing or two" aswell. Just kidding. By the way; Matt, how did your trip turn out to the dyno. Did you get the numbers that we were talking about up at arrow? Your car ought to run pretty well with the spray on it. Maybe when me and a few others setup a date that everyone can go out to San Angelo and run you and some of the Dyess guys can head over too. Should be tons of fun and good looking cars. Thanks for the props Jose. As for Hpp, they treated me well and I had not one problem with them. I know that others have opinions about other shops/tuners but everyone is different. I have other really good friends that go to other shops and are very happy with their cars and that is what really matters anyway.

All shops have horror stories and get praise at the same time. I've talked to Travis at Gearheads a few times and as far as people go, he is WAY more pleasurable to deal with than any of the people I've talked to at HPP. I know a couple of people that are happy with HPP, but no matter what it always seems like that for every person I meet that has dealt with HPP and enjoyed it, there are two that have nothing but bad things to say about them. Personally, after seeing the shit that HPP did to my buddy's Lightning he used to have (some may remember the white Lightning with red stripes that had a JLP short block and a whipple with Crower stage 2 blower cams) I already made up my mind about them. Then seeing the janky shit they did to my car when they built it back in the day just reaffirms all of the preconceived notions I already had.

Some of the shit there can be attributed to how busy they are and their high demand for work on modular Mustangs, but attention to detail is a big deal and I just don't get the impression they have it. Take your car there for a tune or whatever, fine, but no way in hell would I EVER let them do ANY kind of major work on my car.

I don't think anyone is discrediting Wes or his abilities. It's not a "my dick is bigger than yours" competition. As far as I'm concerned, we all drive Mustangs, therefore we all have bigger dicks than the Vette owners.

Until you meet him, I wouldn't pass judgment. Just like you defended Wes when you thought people were doubting his abilities as a mechanic, I will defend Matt. He may not be modest or humble, but he knows his shit more than just about everyone I've met, to include a lot of the people that have worked on your car, and he'll let you know that.

Instead of being defensive and whiney about it, meet him and BS with him for a bit and you'll see why the people that do know him are so high on what he does.

And Wes...honestly, I really don't know you, and you 'really' don't know me...but to say my car isn't one of the baddest NA cars out these is a lie. Scott Cushman, Carlos Nazario, John and Mike T, are some of the few that run a bit more power than me. but considering I did it all myself, inside and out, top to bottom and did a lot of the machining myself, I think I am pretty knowledgeable in this field, anything from a 302rwhp bolt on 2v with cams and stock headers, to F1 2v making 536rwhp at 13psi, and a NA aviator motor that I have ANYONE see to match MY numbers on a stock longblock on any website...363rwhp, with just cams and bolt ons...then with the twins it was 607rwhp on 15psi and only 14* of total timing on pump gas...running 10.6@130 in full weight with an IRS, no transbrake...I don't know if you know 'trap speeds', but that is knocking down the doors of a 9.99 pass...all with a 800$ shortblock, with stock heads and cams...But I guess that isn't impressive...I don't really need to talk myself up, but I sure do know what I am doing...and I don't have to say it...I can let my dyno sheets and timeslips prove it.

THen onto this build...the baddest big bore motor right now NA is 506rwhp, held by guess who...john and mike T...and NazMan did 459rwhp on race gas and cool day...I did 424rwhp at 7000 and the curve was still going up...still on pump gas and only 24* of timing...car will take 28* of timing, and 1000+more RPM, and this was on rings that werent full seated yet, so there is more power there. Ill be at Nazmans numbers on pump gas, next time i get to the dyno. On race gas, hell I don't know...I have no idea to tell how much power I can pick up from race gas and NA...I know what power adders do...but I really don't run race gas in any one of my motors.

So with all that. Like I said, I don't like HPP as I have had to 'fix' a few of the 'botch' jobs they have done to a few of my friends...this is for the 'sucks' comment. Now if they do you and others well...congrats. There is always bad with the good. I have had my problems...but I also don't like the way they treat some ppl as well. Unless you spend money with them, they don't like to waste their time with ya.

As for travis at gearheads. I agree, nice guy, and Gearheads is better than HPP if you ask me...but I know you guys wont, so no big deal.

Bottom line...I don't just put on headers and a CAI and thats it. I have made some very strong combos on just MY car, not including others. I have ppl driving from Oklahoma to see me, and flying me out to florida to take care of thier motors and cars cause they cant seem to trust shops...does that mean you have to 'trust' me. Nope...but the proof is in the pudding...im not an idiot.

So with that...everyone should take my comments with a grain of salt...I am not high and mighty, far from it...I just like to talk shit on the forums, no big deal.

Anyone, even if you drive an LS car is welcome at my house for beer and wrenching anytime...

I was always a Flowmaster guy till I had my Mach, then I had an SLP X and Magnaflow catback. I won't ever run Flowmaster on a mod motor car again. Nothin sounds better on a Fox car (with a pushrod motor), but for the mod motors "Magnasucks" is it for me.
