i tried all the tricks,
the headlight mod, the tire mod, i even emptied my trunk.
i know it was balls hot, but i am in need of atleast 1 more mph and atleast .2-.3 of a sec to get into high eights :(

nitrous is sounding better and better everyday. that and some dam tires.. i hook better on the street then i do at the strip.

best was 79mph@ 9.3s

Like I told you wait till this fall when it cools down. Your times will improve. And some better tires will make a day and night difference. Hell I am .5 slower with my new tires. It is time to junk the Toyo’s and go back to M/T or some Hoosiers.

Just keep practicing.

I couldn't get past a 9.28@79 when I had 3.31's this time last year.

Heat and bad track prep = Bad times my best today was a 8.7 @ 85.29 mph

X2, In march when I first got the car I was pulling 8.60-8.69 all day back to back to back @ 89-90 mph with a spare and all the tools plus books. I've since removed all of the following which weighed in at 137 lbs and just got slower. When this heat passes I think with a set of MT's alone will get me into the 8.0-8.1 range.

I have never tried removing the headlight. throw some slicks on there and you will see that extra mph and about .2 off that 60'.

any racing going on this weekend?

Um. all you need the driver mod....AND slicks.

I ran 8.6s in my ex's GT with a mid pipe, cat back, and underdrives. Thats it. lol.

Brown...let me drive it....I got slick too. Borrow them anytime....Im not using them. lol.

Hell even she drove it to a 8.9-9.0.

Dude...TIRES ASAP (and definitely driver mod). In my '03 Mach (longtubes, SLP X, Magnapacks, gears, tune) I ran mid 8s consistently once I had good tires and practiced launching. I had a couple of freak runs in the low 8s, but I honestly think the clock at Kennendale and here in Abilene was broken or not calibrated right.

If you've never used slicks, don't jump straight to slicks. I'd get the whole driving thing down first. I never ran slicks on my Mach BTW. I ran Nitto drags and just dropped the air pressure down to 20PSI or so at the track.

I wonder what 18 psi would do... I've heard it's all the rage. LOL

my tires are shit.. anything above idol it spins, if i ease it out it bogs.

slicks would help me alot alot.

Drag radials would help you out a lot. Slicks will destroy your rear end. Trust me. If you're on Mach1Registry, you can read tons of horror stories about people running slicks on a bone stock back end.

"James, your tires look flat"

"No, it's just 18 PSI"

Not all of them. My advice is don't run slicks on the stock rear end. I'd upgrade your axles and get an Eaton or some other brand differential before you run slicks. With drag radials and practice you can get in to the mid-high 8s. Get some longtubes, gears (4.30s), and a tune and with slicks you'll be deep in the low 8s.
