Hey folks...new to this but saw that I (my car) was the subject of conversation a few months ago this early spring. Yep, I'm in the 317th and no, the gate guard does not own my car...Looking forward to chatting with you guys.

Thanks for the warm welcome Mr Bullitt driver, unfortunately it will be a while until I get some pics uploaded...I am deployed and have to find some cds to burn pics to, seeing how I cannot use external drives (at all).
Mr Flips n shit....I work in life support.... chances are we've seen eachother before...I've been here for the better part of a decade now, and have been deployed half as long....I think I know your car though....the amazing sounding SN197 (maroon)right???

Color??? Navy blue metallic? My favorite GM color those years.... Those cars are simply sexy....I miss my firehawk so much, but I still think the Ponies have a sweeter sounding exhaust....not to knock the F-bodies, they're ferocious (spelling?) nonetheless...

I'll have to check it out sometime! Too bad it will be in Oct, but you all know what that means....cooler air there in Texas! I hear the weather is not so much different than here in the middle east!!LOL!

On another note: I've read some postings about you guys getting together and have noticed that most of the folks affiliated are mil... Here's an idea for anyone interested. I managed to start a car club, military based, but not exclusively mil. It started out slow in the beginning, and kind of blew up here lately. The last Monday before I deployed out here we had a meet of about 16 cars and 25 people. A couple buddies of mine are running the meetings while I'm out here and they informed me that it has nearly doubled (1.5X). Meets have been going on at Hobby Lobby parking lot (near the road side where Hastings used to be) and usually start at 2000hrs. Some folks end up staying clear past 2200hrs shooting the bull and whatnot. You guys should come out and chat with a loadmaster driving a navy blue metallic TA ramair, named BION. Him and a cat named TIM Bielecki (09 Lancer evo clone) have been running it in my stead. We're trying to get organized and do some good in the community, fund raise, set up events, participate in events, ect. The main two goals I had in mind (and most everyone else involved) is to make this kinda like a fraternity, taking care of one another. We're working on setting up a savings acct for the money from the fund raisers and dues (amt yet to be decided--around $50/yr) and use such monies to set up events, assist each other if catastropic failure occurs (as long as it wasn't by doing some stupid shit---like at an event or something), purchase decals of our logo for all members and whatnot. We want to get the streetracing off the streets and set up legal forums to do activities such as: drag, drift, rally, circuit, ect. We're even thinking of a rally down to the TEXAS MILE for a weekend or something this spring or so.... If it sounds like something you are interested in come on out...talk to Bion or Tim....

Inputs and ideas are always welcome.

Werd, thanks for the invite. Fridays, Saturdays?
That sounds like a lot of good plans and something I personally would be on board with.
We have done a pretty good size event once, I'd like to do that again. I'll be out of the area from mid July to mid august for school, but should be able to help put something together after that if possible.

Anyways, thanks again for the info. :t)

oh shit...forgot the day. Monday nights have been everyone's favorite. Does not interfere with everyone's Friday/Saturday night plans, and definitely not on Sunday morning hangover recoveries. Usually Monday is a slow day at work for most people and we've been getting great reviews and feedback on that. I personally put my two young boys down for bed just before 8 and kiss the wife as I head out the door... works for me too!

That is good to hear you are interested and have experience on putting on events. I sincerely hope we are more organized by time I get home in Oct, but you should definitely check it out before you head out of town. A guy in the club has a gig lined up for us at a "Shriners ball".... We'll have a booth/table out front with a few cars lined up....and we'll act as valet drivers/parkers for the events working for tips going towards the club and events. Hopefully it works out because there is a lot of money to be made on this event...

I doubt I know you. The only person I know in life support is Larry Kearns. I used to know Ian Guerrero but he got out. That amazing sounding maroon S197 is actually my boss's car. His name is Art Perez. He's our FCC/DCC (Flying Crew Chief/Dedicated Crew Chief) head honcho. Cool dude for sure. I drive a '98 Cobra that hasn't seen the road since the first week of March. She'll be up and running before you get back from the desert though.

cool bro....should be fun having it up and running... It would drive me nuts not being able to drive my car. What color is yours? Maybe I've seen it....I've been here a long time, seen a lot of folks come and go, Ian was one of them. Larry is a good dude.

You've never seen my car, I'm sure. It's never been parked at the squadron. The only time I ever drove it on base I parked it at the ISO hangar because I was taking a plane through there. It's a Laser Red '98 Cobra with black '03/04 Cobra wheels on it.

well, I'll look forward to checking it out when I get back! Did you get the deep dish or the one's from american muscle?

SeeingRed
07-06-2009, 11:32 AM
The ones I had on there were actually Matt's (NeverEnuff), but I'm buying the same set. They're not deep dish, but the rears are 10.5" wide so I'll be running 305s or 315s in the rear. I'll be getting them from American Muscle. My car should be done by the end of Sept hopefully.

sexy. I was thinking of the black ones also, but I've seen them getting around... I'm one of those guys that like my car to be different...nothing against you or yours, they'll look sick, no doubt...but just not my cup of tea..

Black_Bullitt
07-06-2009, 05:09 PM
Yeah I wanted different, that's why I got my Bullitts custom powdercoated satin black. completely black. then of course I haven't been able to drive the car for the last 16 months, and now every mother's son has all black wheels now. oh well, mine are still unique. lol

I might still go with the 10th anniversary knock offs and have them powder coated black.

Just make 'em black. Not sure how they'd look on a '98 though.

Hell yeah, I never see those 10th anniversary ones...I've been looking at those for a couple of years, but never drop the hammer on them... I am really diggin the black chrome though. All reviews, and most retailers/builers say that they don't do the black chrome anymore because it tends to peel within a year and a half... I've been emailing the guys at racelinewheels.com for a couple of weeks, thinking of getting custom powdercoating done as well as black chrome. They told me that they don't do the chrome for the reason above..... but they three piece wheels are sick, but steep...$$$$

There's a shop here in town, Paul's Powdercoating I think it's called, and they do really nice work. I've known a couple of people who have used them before with excellent results. I'm just not sure how well the 10th anniversary wheels would turn out in black powdercoat. So far no dice on finding any of those wheels in black. I won't do black chrome though. I'm not a big fan of chrome in general. If all else fails, I'll just get the 03/04 Cobra wheels in black. I liked them on my car. The other thing that is kinda steering me away from the 10th wheels is the deep dish rears. Not a big fan of deep dish.

check out latemodelrestoration.com, they have the 10th anniversary wheels in black, painted, not powdercoated...

I had my Bullitt's powdercoated at Sullivan's Powdercoating, right there by that transmission shop on South 3rd (you can see it as you're getting off of 83/84 N at the S 1st exit). They did an awesome job and I always recommend them first when it comes to powdercoating.

do you know how much it is for a wheel? i went to abilene powercoat and they quoted me $240 for all 4 and a 1 day turnaround.

Sullivan's sounds like the best deal...I've heard of places in DFW charging clear into the $300.00 range. I am glad Rich brought this up.... Love it!

I've never seen this much care go into powdercoating though. They did an awesome job.
