It's just too cold. Bummer. And a reminder that that track will be closed on Sunday April 12 for Easter.

This track is getting on my nerves. For 2 weeks now they closed on the day I was planning on going. :(

I'd ask you blame the weather. Sunday when I talked to Dean about 11 AM, it was 28F wind chill and about 40F air temp on my back porch which faces south. I let the dogs out and it wasn't 30 seconds before the big one was knocking on the back door. It was about 60F at 5PM, but that was too late. Prepping the track would have been a waste of material and it seemed obvious that the turnout would be low. It was still warm when I went to bed at 1:30AM Sunday, so I was hoping the forecast was wrong for a change.

Last Sunday got hit because the weather was bad Saturday. We have a lot of racers that come from 100~250 miles away for our points races. These are sponsored races and they really have to try and get them in - there are only so many on the schedule, plus the Summit Super Series, bracket finals team placement, scheduling - all put pressure on getting the bracket races in. Racers only have 30 rounds allowed to make their standing in the Summit Series, so every race canceled puts the hurt on those people. The weather has also pushed us into running 3 weeks in a row and that's wearing us out. How we survived running every weekend the first two years I don't know.

March and April can make it hard sometimes, which is why the track waits until May to start running Sterling's points series. The track LIKES Sundays and us racer types like 'em too - good time for adjustments, carb tuning, even just kicking back and cooking some weenies with the family, etc without the pressure of getting ready for a points race the next day. I've got two carbs in the shop I want to get lined out and I need a Sunday or two to get that done. I also bought new front tires with more rollout and figured I'd get my launch dialed in on a Sunday. Car broke then the weather broke and I went into this Saturday with only four rounds against the tree with a new combination and a quickie Friday night front end alignment. :D

Anybody that's ever spent a few years going to the Pate swap meet in Fort Worth knows about spring weather in N. Texas. Pate is always the last weekend in April. I've been going for years, and you ALWAYS take - hat, coat, jacket, shorts, sun screen, poncho, long sleeve shirt, short sleeve shirt, extra socks and shoes. Because the weather can be anything and I've seen it all things from cold N wind with rain on Friday to hot dry with tornado warnings the next day.

We'll get some nice days here pretty soon. Dean and co. really do want to be there on Sunday.
