This is something I can look into if you guys want it. Since we are new, it wouldn't be too much to maintain the numbers. The only issues are all the spammers that sign up and end up getting deleted; the database still assigns a user id in sequential order. Ex - even though we have 29 'confirmed members', we are on user id 60-something.
I can look in the database and tell you all which number you are based on your registration date/time right now, but I'll look around to see if there's something I can do in the background to automatically assign the numbers.

No problem. Should be good to go.
Here's what I did:
Added profile field to accept Member # - editable only by Admin(s).
Manually set each member number.
Uploaded a script to display profile fields in your postbit.
Postbit is the user specific info on the left side of your post (screen name, avatar, etc)
This script just pulls the info from your user profile and displays it next to your posts.
Set postbit to display:
Member Number
Location
Vehicle Year + Model
(All of these items are editable in your User Profiles)
If there's anything else you guys want to see on the site, don't be shy, let me know. :t) I've got two items I'd like to get installed as soon as I know they are stable... :look:

Nice work.
There is a way to fix the database to remove the gaps in the numbering, but it has to be done manually and is a bit of a pain in the ass because it effects a lot of stuff in the forums. This would be something that I'd only want to do about once a year! lol.

LOL
Well for now I'm cool with just assigning a new number as folks... "real" folks that is... sign up. :t)

hover your mouse over the persons name, the very last number in the corner with the address is there member number as well ;)That's the User ID that the database assigns each member that signs up. It worked for the first 20 or so, but then we started seeing a significant amount of spam accounts. The database doesn't care who's real or not, it keeps assigning those User ID's. So if you look at sc55509's number, the database shows it as 51. Like Lt. Dan said, there's a way to manually alter that within the database, but it's a pain in the mommy and daddy button.
Dang good job man, I appreciate it.No problem :t)

Yep, its an incremental counter. So if your user number is 601, you're are the 601st person to sign up. But if we deleted or banned 300 spam accounts, then technically you're member 301.
Wish there was an easy way around this, but for the moment there isn't.
