So this coming september will be 11 years for me in the service!! Meaning I have 9 years to plan my retirement! I'm nervous somewhat cause I'll final out of active duty at 38, but end my working days at 37....

I havent ever written anything down about retirement but I have thought of some minor/major details of items I want to have by then and animinties I want to have after I retire.

1. Debt free minus a car payment and or mortage, so no lines of credit, credit cards with huge balance's, signature lons etc etc.
2. Driving to my retirement cermony in a car that does have Shelby on it....
3. Live in a place that it not super crowded but yet close enough to a major/decent size city. i.e. with in an hour from denver, vegas, dfw metromess, you know.
3. no 30+ days of 100+ temps... duh, same for cold, if it snows cool, ice...no thanks.
4. I'd like to be able to see if not drive a short distance to see mountains.
5. Four actual seasons for weather!!!
6. Fishing/hunting on public land that is easy to find.
7. 4 Bedroom 3.5 bath house 2 story, and a 2.5 garage. 40x30 shop in back!!!
8. Soda vending machine in said shop....for beer duh...
9. Close to a actual 1/4 mile strip.
10. Make MSgt before my 17 year mark.

So those are my top 10's before I retire/afterwards. It's not the worlds greatest list but those are atleast a few of my many wishful items. The list could go on and on on stuff to fill my shop, but most car guys would have the same.

So to be able to live in an area that would suit me I think north side of colorado springs, co would be the best so far in my travels that I've seen.

Before I got to the end of your post I was thinking Boulder, CO actually. I visited up there last summer and it was amazing! The weather, the scenery... just amazing!

If I had a list it would probably be pretty close to yours... debt free except for car payments & mortgage. Up there in the Boulder area, you'll see a bunch of houses with weird garage set ups. Most have a 2 car garage connected to a single car garage door. At least most of the houses I saw had that. One of my friends up there has a really nice house with that garage set up, PLUS a shop separate of the house, I'm not sure of the exact size, but there's gotta be room for 4 cars parked side by side, with room for tool chests lining all the walls. Had two of those chain operated rolling doors, one 8ft and one 12ft I believe.
I wouldn't mind having something like that in my retirement...

Thats a hell of a list. I had a place untill you started about the weather. LOL

Also, why a Shelby? Why not Saleen or Roush?

Steve Saleen sold out the pansy, and Jack Roush has the worlds gayest hat...

But really, it's just something about a Shelby that makes me

But really, it's just something about a Shelby that makes me :banana:Saleen didn't sell out, he was forced out of his own company, which is why he got right back in the game with SMS. :cool2: Most of the techs and everything that worked at Saleen have gone off and started Techco, which is producing some high quality stuff right now... :t)

Sounds nice. When I settle down after my plans of school/air force/school, I want to live where its nice and green.

Have you seen the Steve Mark Saleen mustang 25th ann. concept? Its clean.
